Most of the time when you say to your friends” I’m going to go Line Dancing.” they think of outdated Country music… Something cliché like ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ or ‘Elvira’.  Well, times have definitely changed. Even though Line Dancing may have been around for hundreds of years it has progressed to a more modern style of line dancing.

It’s become so popular that we have ages from teens to 80-year-old attending class, why? Because you can dance to music from Top ’40s to your fave Pop music, Hip hop and  Country crossover music by Keith Urban and Kip Moore.

About the Classes line dancing

Our classes are for everyone, the music and movement combined with a great atmosphere is like no other, classes are designed for any skill level even the brand newbie. The perfect way to stay fit and healthy. We host line dancing classes every Thursday evening 7:00-9:00pm at Miranda. Keep active with boot scooting and stay healthy.

The energy in the room is spectacular and loads of fun!  Line dancing is a great way to keep fit and get your daily exercise and it’s the most suitable line dancing style for all ages and all levels. The beauty of the dance, because you don’t need a partner, is that you can add all your own individual flavour to the steps. You get to own each dance and make it yours. That’s a whole lot of boot scootin fun!

The classes are fun and a fantastic way to socialise while staying fit.  Once you’ve learnt a few line dance routines it becomes second nature and much easier to learn new routines.

Many people love line dancing because the dance moves are easy to learn and they don’t need to coordinate moves with a partner. They just have to stand in a line and move in unison with their fellow dancers.

Each line dance consists of a number of “walls.” A wall refers to the direction the dancers face at any given time (front, back, left, or right) as they dance through a series of steps that will be repeated. Since the steps tend to repeat frequently, dancers can easily catch up if they get lost.

Today, people enjoy line dancing to many genres of music beyond country, music like pop, disco, techno, rhythm and blues, and hip-hop all have developed line dances to go with them.

No matter what type of music you choose to dance to, line dancing can be a great workout. Depending upon your age and fitness level, you can expect to burn between 300-800 calories per hour line dancing!

More About Line Dancing

Historically speaking, In many cultures, dance is seen as a rite of passage to manhood or showing off for the women.  We’ll see the women doing the same thing in those different areas where the women will perform set-pieces of choreography as a means of showing off for the man, kind of like a rite of womanhood.

Line dancing may have found a place though, in modern times, amongst Country dancing and music in order to live and breathe and grow with the times.  It’s a set piece of choreography done in a line, just as it implies. Becoming overwhelmingly popular with Country music but finding a place in Hip Hop, Rock n Roll, Polka, Waltz, Two Step, Cha-Cha, West Coast Swing, Modern Jive…  All different genres of music. Line Dancing can be found everywhere across the country and the world, especially in the United States of America. In Country bars and pubs with people line dancing to Rhythm and Blues and of course at most weddings because, where else would you be doing your Electric Slide but at a wedding?

So Line Dancing, when you first learn the steps, is set choreography where everybody gets in a line and does the same movement.  Once you start dancing and doing the same movement you can improvise, add your personality and embellish inside of that particular dance.

I hope that you learn how to Line Dance and experience what it’s like to move to America’s music (Country music) and the wide array of genres that Line Dancing explores.

You, like everyone else, will fall in love with a line dance.
